It's the second week of January and much like every other year before, everyone is writing up their New Year's resolutions. "I want to lose weight." "I'm going to quit smoking." "I will get better grades." Yada-yada-yada. It's pretty much the same things we hear every year. People want to change themselves, they want to take control of their lives and get. a. grip. I myself have made a number of resolutions over the past few years. But to be perfectly honest, I'm kind of over it. Here's why-
A NEW YEAR IS NOT THE ONLY TIME YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE A CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE.
Allow me to elaborate on this.
I am a firm believer in (good) change, there's no doubt about that. I love hearing people saying they want to be healthy (not "skinny"- there's a difference. More on that later...), or get rid of certain bad habit or whatever it is. That's fantastic, good for you! HOWEVER... I do NOT like hearing people saying, "Oh, I'll just wait until the New Year to insert blah blah blah here." No. That is not how this works.
YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE WHENEVER YOU WANT. PERIOD.
The bottom line is exactly that- you don't have to wait. Saying you're just "going to wait for the New Year" is just another lame excuse. SO JUST DO IT. (ha. Nike.) Get off your butt and GET OUT THERE. Get on that treadmill, get a Nicotine patch and kick the people standing in the way of your spotlight to the curb. YOU. CAN. DO. IT.
